Flight Chaos volcano stops spewing ash

The icelandic volcano has stopped throwing ash, thanks to this no more flights will be disrupted. No ash was detected on Sunday which could mean the volcano has either stopped erupting or has taken a little pause. The volcanoes activity has gone down measurements with a heat camera have shown that the temperature is at less than 100°C which means there is no more ash but only steam. Seismic activity has gone down and is still decreasing and is approaching the level it had been before. It is possible it could erupt again. The volcano beneath Eyjafjallajokull glacier in southern Iceland erupted in mid-April.

We think that this is very severe. They say that you cant notice when you are breathing it and its toxic. Our concern is the worlds population, and if it comes to Guatemala or Canada (country of justin bieber) it might be very bad for us. We are also glad that its done erupting. New rules for UK air traffic as ash cloud lingers.

New measures go into effect in midday Tuesday that will let planes fly at higher ash densities than currently permited. Flight disruptions continue because of ash cloud from an Icelanic volcano. The measures announced by UK civil aviation authority on Monday. This measures are designed to ease the backlog. Flights that go through the time limited zone will be changed to a stricter maintenance policies. Airlines must give a safety agreement from their aircraft and engine manufactures. Major European airports reopened Monday after being closed for six hours due to the ash cloud. If the Eyjafallajokull volcano continues to erupt air travel in Britain could be disrupted. In mid April this problems started when the volcano beneath Eyjafallajokull glacier in southern Iceland disrupting international travel for a lot of days. It can last for another year.

We think that this is really bad, lots of people are being killed because of bombs and as it is not enough it was children between 15-20 years. This is really bad because we shouldn't fight over things we should solve them peacefullly.

Four killed in Pakistan attacks

On Wednesday a bomb that landed on Pakistan killed four young people, 3 were killed and 2 were injured. This bomb exploded on the northwest region near a religious school. The people that were hurt were students between 15-20 years old. On the southwest of Balochistan another bomb exploded an oil tanker with fuel of NATO operations in Afghanistan. The tank was traveling from Quetta, Pakistan to Afghanistan. One boy was killed and another was injured.

Nigeria prepares for presidents funeral

Umaru Yar'Adua nigeria's president died after a long illness on Thursday morning. Goodluck Jonathan will be president until the next election on 2011. Since november 2009 president Yar'Adua hasn't been seen by public. The funeral will be in his native state of Katsina. The 58 year old man went to saudi arabia for treatment in november 2009 and he returned on February 2010. The new president pledged to fight the country of 150 million people. The president Yar'Adua was planning to make Nigeria better starting in the niger delta region which brought peace to the area after many years of fighting. The militia called of the truce to end violence that has crippled oil production in the nation.

We think that we are sorry for Nigeria's president deaths, we dont think that the other president should be president until 2011. We also think that his plans are a good idea, that will make people love him. We also think that it's good that they made a great role by having a truce.

Spanish bullfigher in intensive care after severe going in Mexico

One of Spain's most famous matadors was very injured a day after being gored in a bullfight in Mexico. Jose Tomas, the bullfighter, was carried out from the ring after being hit by the bull, this animal stood up and tossed tomas several feet. Tomas needed full reconstruction of his left artery and vein. Tomas is in the hospital still in recuperation in the ICU ( Intensive care unit) .

Volcano Grounds Europe flights

Volcanic ash from a volcano in Iceland forced the airspace of Britain, Ireland, and Sweeden. This disrupted flights. Across Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, and Norway airports will be closed as the cloud approaches. Authorities said the ash is dangerous for aircraft.

We think that this volcano eruption is very impacting because all the flights that were going to Europe are now canceled and the foreign people that were in Europe will be stranded there until the sky has cleared. This means many people will be without their families for some time.

Lula pledges aid for Brazil flood victims

On Monday president Inacio Lula Da Silva said that everything possible is being done to help the victims flooding and mudslides. 229 people have died, and thousands have been left homeless. President Lula anaunced he will give 200 million reais ($112 million) for the emergency that started on tuesday at Rio de Janeiro. The greater damage was done to the city of Niteroi where 146 people have died. 63 people have died inside Rio de Janeiro, 16 deaths in Sao Goncalo. In the state of Rio the governor said he will spend 1 billion reais($562 million) in constructing houses.

COMMENT: We think that its very depressing for these people to be left homeless because of rain. Lula is also very nice by helping them with some money so they can "rebuild" their life. Its also very good that the Governor of Rio will spend 562 million dollars on rebuilding Rio's houses. We just hope this wont have much effect on Brazil's tourism, because its a beautiful place to visit.

Five Workers found dead in China Mine collapse

On Tuesday 5 workers were found dead because of a rush of underground water in their coal mine, this happened in China, Shanxi. 115 miners were pulled out alive, the rescuers scrambled to reach dozens more which were still trapped inside. The miners were part of a large group of 261 others while working in the Wangjialing mine. Mine accidents are common in China, in 2009, 2,631 people were killed. This seems high but in 2002, 6,995 people also died. The country launched a 2 month campaign of safety inspections in mines and other places that have had accidents.

Freak Storm causes flooding, landslides in Australia

Lots of thunderstorms hit western Australia causing flooding, landslides and wind damage, repairs will cost millions of dollars. More than 30 schools in Perth area suffered flooding, collapsed ceilings, and shattered windows were some damages they had. Some hospitals and fire stations were also damaged. More than 50,000 people did not have electricity on Tuesday. The fire stations had to call more than 2,000 times for help.

Chile quake moves city more than 10 feet

The 8.8 earthquake in Chile might have moved the city of Concepcion 10 feet to the west. The city of Santiago 11 inches. The quake also shook other parts of south America like Brazil. Some scientists say that this may affect the rotation of the planet, by affecting a day's length.Even though this earthquake killed millions of Chileans scientists think they will get many valuable information. The "maul" earthquake will become the most important quake that has been studied.

We think that this earthquake affected a lot the life style of Chileans because they don't have the same life as before because every thing was destroyed. We think people and countries should be considerate and donate money and food to help Chile move on.

But the length of the day could have also increased by 0.06, because if the Three Gorges reservoir in China filled up, it would have hold 10 trillion gallons of water.

SeaWorld CEO says shows with killer whales will resume Saturday

At Sea World, Orlando a trainer named Dawn Brancheau was pulled under water when a killer whale named Tilikum grabbed her ponytail she died from multiple injuries as well as drowning. Sea world will continue to do shows with Tilikum because they say "she is a wonderful animal." When the shows with the killer whales resume the trainers will not be going into the water or doing things like riding on top of them. In 1999 Tikilum was also blamed for a death of a 27 year old man. This lamentable incident occurred at 2 pm on Wednesday.

Texas landfill searched in baby Gabriel Johnson case

Summary

This article talks about a baby who got buried under 45 ft of garbage. He’s been missing since December 26, and was last seen with his mother. She told the baby’s father that she killed the boy, and gave it away to a couple in San Antonio. This woman was sent to a jail in Arizona where she remains with charges of kidnapping, custodial interference, and child abuse. The landfill where the baby was buried will be searched. Cadaver dogs will search for the boy’s body. More than 20 people will be involved in the investigation.

Bodies found gagged, bound after Afghan honor killing

They were found four bodies in southeastern of Afghanistan. The bodies were found during an operation in Afghanistan. The NATO'S force said that the bodies of two men and two women were found with women bound and gagged. The US officials said that they were shot. Afghans and NATO officials are investigating the murder that happened in Katabeh.Afghanistan and international forces went to the compound which was sited as militant activity.

Feathery dinosaurs get Scientists into a Flap

Scientists have discovered that the color of dinosaurs feathers was reddish-orange. They also prove that feather evolved in dinosaurs before birds adapted them for flight. It was a group of Chinese and U.K scientists who discovered this. They used electron microscopes to analyze the membranes in dinosaur fossils. They analyzed the fossils of the Sinosauropteryx and Sinornithosaurus, it was discovered in October 2009 on a dig in northeast China. On January this year another group of scientists found the oldest footprints of four legged dinosaurs. This are thought to be about 395 million years old. The foot prints are 26 centimeters wide and 2.5 meters in length.


Commentary: I think it is important that they found this footprints because it helps us understand dinosaurs more.

Canada's Olympic-sized plan for fighting H1N1

Maddy Schaffrick a 15 year old girl is considered one of the best snow boarder in the world. But the only worry she has is the virus of H1N1 is in abundance, she and other snowboarders fear they will get the virus and wont be able to compete. The olympic comeete is suggesting to all the people who are going to Vancouver to get the vaccination. Experts say that a dozen of flu carriers can spread the H1N1 to hundreds of people on the 16 days of the winter olympics. It is thought that the vaccine woun't make the effeft until 7 to 10 days.

Tiger Woods cited for crash outside home

Tiger Woods was accused of careless driving, when he crashed into a tree outside his house in Orlando, Florida. He will not be attending the golf tournament disappointing hundreds of fans. He hit a tree with his 2009 Cadillac SUV according to the police the crash happened at 2:25 a.m on Friday. The crash has ended Woods' appearances until next season. Woods will not participate in any other tournaments in 2009. People with tickets for the event hoping to see Woods play are disappointed but he promised they would get a discount for next year's tournament. Police say they don't know why woods was driving away from home at such hour.
