
On Tuesday 5 workers were found dead because of a rush of underground water in their coal mine, this happened in China, Shanxi. 115 miners were pulled out alive, the rescuers scrambled to reach dozens more which were still trapped inside. The miners were part of a large group of 261 others while working in the Wangjialing mine. Mine accidents are common in China, in 2009, 2,631 people were killed. This seems high but in 2002, 6,995 people also died. The country launched a 2 month campaign of safety inspections in mines and other places that have had accidents.
