
On Monday president Inacio Lula Da Silva said that everything possible is being done to help the victims flooding and mudslides. 229 people have died, and thousands have been left homeless. President Lula anaunced he will give 200 million reais ($112 million) for the emergency that started on tuesday at Rio de Janeiro. The greater damage was done to the city of Niteroi where 146 people have died. 63 people have died inside Rio de Janeiro, 16 deaths in Sao Goncalo. In the state of Rio the governor said he will spend 1 billion reais($562 million) in constructing houses.

COMMENT: We think that its very depressing for these people to be left homeless because of rain. Lula is also very nice by helping them with some money so they can "rebuild" their life. Its also very good that the Governor of Rio will spend 562 million dollars on rebuilding Rio's houses. We just hope this wont have much effect on Brazil's tourism, because its a beautiful place to visit.
